Bolivia Week 2
Strong correlation between plate boundaries and local volcanoes and earthquakes (Garcia, Slide 5)
The South American plate is a large tectonic plate region on Earth that includes South America and the South Atlantic Ocean.

Plate Tectonics is responsible for several of the most devastating natural hazards (Garcia, slide 4)
The geology of Bolivia has different lithologies also Bolivia has tectonic and sedimentary environments. Bolivia is divided into mountainous western area affected by subduction in the Pacific and eastern lowlands of stable platforms and shields. The Andes mountains are divided into three ranges; these are from west to east; the Cordillera Occidental that makes up the border of Chile and hosts several active volcanoes and geothermal areas. The uplift of the Andean orogen has also had a far-reaching influence on the atmospheric and moisture transport patterns in South America. This is documented by the onset of humid climate conditions on the Eastern side of the Andes mountains and changes in tectonic processes in the Adean orogenic wedge. Bolivia is located on the altiplano tectonic plate.

Tectonic plates in South America

As you can see the Ring of Fire is right next to Peru and Chile the neighbors of Bolivia in South America
For the people of South America, it is very likely that they sit on the South American Plate. The Nazca plate is moving eastwards towards the South American Plate. This interaction between both plates is largely responsible for constructing.
The Andes mountains.
